So I'm planning on switching to a new cell phone provider, and getting a smart-phone, cuz Koodo sucks and so does this damn phone. I'm relatively stupid when it comes to cell phones, so I figured I'd give you guys a try.

Here are the choices I've narrowed it down to: HTC Desire, HTC Hero, Blackberry Curve 8350, or the Blackberry Bold 9700. Educate me, please

Micro computer with skype built in aswell as Version on-the-go Wi-Fi.

In my opinion.

So....which choice would that be?

Newsflash: ALL cell providers fucking suck. As a matter of fact Koodoo is actually one of the BETTER ones we have here. The big names are FAR worse.

As for which phone to get. Anything but a Blackberry. I've gone through 7 in the past 2.5 years. If my company didn't pay for my usage and replace it everytime it died, I would NOT have one. Ever.

But if you wanna replace your phone every 4-5 months then by all means... :p

Well I've had some serious problems with Koodo, including my bill being double what it's supposed to be with no apparent reason, and them shutting down my service after me only oweing them $60 when they said I had up to $200 before they would shut down my service. Telus is probably the best cell-phone providers up here, so that's why.

As for blackberrys, I've heard mixed stories. Among stories like yours, I've also heard people who haven't had a single problem or complaint with their's...luck of the draw, I guess? Btw, what do you think of the HTC phones, are they any good?

*EDIT* The Motorola Milestone looks alright, too. Thoughts on that?

Telus is one of the worst (as a matter of fact, Koodoo is owned by Telus). I have both first-hand and second hand experience with all the major carriers, all of which have been similar, if not worse than yours. I'd say that probably Fido is the best (which is actually owned by Rogers, which I would probably consider the lesser of all the evils). At least in my experience. But overall no matter which provider you go with, at some point you will get jerked around. It's a scientific fact. They're all skeezeballs.

I've never personally met a single Blackberry user who has not had issues with their's and every single replacement thereafter. Only people who have nothing bad to say have not owned one for long enough to discover how bad they truly are.

Not sure about the Milestone (although Motorolas tend to be pretty decent, but with the occasional lemon). But as far as HTC goes, I once owned an HTC Touch for a brief time. It was the best phone I have ever owned. Period. However, after owning it for barely a month I had to sell it to a buddy at a fraction of the cost since that's when my company finally decided to give me a company phone. Figures. Not only that, but I had just renewed a 3-year contract with Bell (probably the worst offender of them all) and got charged a $350 cancellation fee. I could go on and on about how utterly illegal that was, but that's a rant for another day...

But anyway, I didn't really have much time with it, but the buddy I sold it to had it for nearly 3 years and retains the opinion that it was the best phone he ever had. So when it came time to get a new phone, he just got the new model. So there ya go. Take it for what it's worth. :smirk:

Wait.

I am personally holding out for the Desire HD version that's supposed to come out here in Q4, or early Q1 of 2011.

I'd hate buying the desire now, only to have it's big brother appear a month later.

So far, I'm just using my Nokia 6300 until the new HTC comes out.

Well I really like the HTC phones, especially that Desire (I desire the Desire >.>), but up here it's looking like I'm gonna have to go through Telus in order to get one....hmmmm...
