laptop problem

Well, got a Asus x62j and whenever I play a game it usually overheats and restarts.. Anyone got any idea how to fix this apart from sending it back?

Is it sitting on your lap? Are you using a cooling base for it? Does it have anything covering the intake/exhaust for the heatsink fan?

Its on my desk and nothings covering the fan and I dont have a cooling base. It really shouldnt be necessary imo :<

The door for the ram on the bottom have a mesh screen like this?

or is it a solid plastic sheet covering the vents? (Yes I have seen this, no, I dont know why they would do this.)


Check your power settings and make sure its not turning the fan off to save power.

Tried updating the BIOs? Could be a faulty setting making the diode think its hotter than it should be. Try installing speedfan or hardware moniter. That will tell you the different temperatures inside the laptop and determine if its overheating or if there is some other problem.

Which is the reason you go for small form factor for laptops, and use a stationary gaming rig for gamin'.

This is my joblaptop and I sometimes go to my parents home in the weekends to hang out with my friends and then I play on ze laptop. Cba drag my stationary pc to it
