Fixing wireless? :O

Ok so, if it doesn't exsist, and osmeone steals the ideal and makes millions. Just toss me a hundred thou or so and I'll be cool.

Here's what I'm looking for! I have a friend who has a netbook, her netbook only has wireless on it. (No port for an eternet cable) and she sometimes goes to places that don't offer wireless, but do offer hardwire. (Meaning if she had a regular labtop she'd be ok, or if she had her desktop)

What I'm looking for, is an adapter that hooks up to an eternet (Or other cable but you get my picture here) and turns that cable outlet into a wireless output, without having to change modems. Does one exsist? If not, someone with the funds should toooootaly make it exsist and become awesome.

Gah, ass. I know a router "would" work. But I'm looking for something more compact. There are adapters to make a computer into wireless, there's really nothing to make a non-wireless modem wireless without a router? - I'm looking for something pocket sized or easy to carry around. Not something with cords etc.
