Hi, I'm trying to get the game working again without having to switch to another OS by rebooting.. :/ So far, it works, tho I don't know if I'll have those periodic crashes yet. Thing is, I'm trying to get it to be widescreen or windowed mode... I got a 23 inch 16:9 monitor and it's stretched quite a bit :( I tried going in the regedit and changing the values of height and width and it doesn't seem to do anything. if I put the value of windowed to 1, the game launches, and then just closes without any warning before the main menu appears. Any solution to this? I forgot to say I use windows 7 64x -_-

DK2 is made to run in 4:3, there's no widescreen(16:9) options in the game.
Some graphics cards has the option to keep aspect ratio so DK2 and other games runs in 4:3 and then there's just two black bars on both sides of the screen. If you can't find that option in your graphics cards settings/program then you probably have to do it in your screens settings, that's what I had to do.
Hope this'll help you in the right direction :)

Yeah, not sure if you can run DK2 in widescreen.

There are mods for other games, like Baldurs Gate - to allow for widescreen play :)

Thank you for your answers :) I managed to put in a resolution that doesnt make the UI stretched anymore, but the in game menu has no text. I know what button does what so its not to bad, I can do 16:10 which is pretty close, but 16:9 the game crashes. Now what I'm trying to do is to have it in a window, by using a virtual pc or something. I tried linux, but the menu is extremely laggy and we can't figure out how to fix that... If only I still had my old windows 98 + xp :(

Woah, how did you manage to widescreen it?

If you know how to access your regedit: HKEY_CURRENT_USER->Software->Bullfrog Productions Ltd->Dungeon Keeper II ->Configuration->Video-> Now there are 2 values: Screen Height and Screen Width Be sure to enter the values as decimals! The only thing it does, is make it so the UI isn't stretched anymore (especially the minimap... it looks like a circle again!) But careful, putting in a resolution too big will cause the in game text (especially the little tips) very small, and the in game menu will only have buttons, no text. As long as you know what button does what, you can still get around, and even save (what you type wont appear, but once saved, the save will appear in the list) Also, the bigger the resolution is (for example 1980 x 1200) will also cause the game to look like it's at a much closer view, you wont scroll as far back than normal resolutions... so if you keep it small, like 1280 x 800, it should look better :) And I tried one type of resolution (1280 x 720 which is 16:9 I believe) and the game didn't want to run at all. But 16:10 worked for me!

Wow, that's pretty nice you got the game running in that resolution.

@Froberg: You think we should bomb GoG with mails telling them to add DK2 to their catalog? ;)

Would be about time, wouldn't it?

I believe it's Abandonware now, though.

Maybe we should add this hack to the main fix threads, Kirsha you running XP or Vista/win7?

Win 7 64x :) Also, I forgot to say, while running the game in a custom resolution, if you go in the options, it resolution will mention its in 640, but it'll be the resolution you have set in! I just dont know if it'll change the game back to its native resolution when applying the changes. It will, i believe, if you play with that setting!

Good work Kirsha, shall we add it to the Win7 and XP fix-threads respectively?

Of course :) I didn't test it yet in XP (too lazy to reboot :P) but it should work, hopefully.
