So before I moved I noticed my desktop computer would play music on itunes perfectly ok, but whenever I would try to watch a video on youtube no sound.
I'm running XP and the latest version of Firefox, un and reinstalled Flash, even tried adding a registry key as per this websites idea and installed the klite codec pack.
Was screwing with SoundMax control panel and had it for a minute but I don't know what I did but I screwed it up and wont play anymore.

Not to be a simpleton but did you check the sound mixer to make sure Firefox wasn't muted?

Left click your Speaker icon in your taskbar and click Mixer for that.

It should be called Plugin Container for Firefox. Sound HAS to be playing before it will show so pull up youtube and watch something then look for it.

Just found out what it was, it was a firewall... curse you Norton

Norton? I'm not surprised. Get Kaspersky or Nod32

Explains what, pray tell? I just started using it to keep some of my less paid for applications from phoning home.

Remember a paranoid is simply a man in possession of all the facts

Yes, but there is a big difference from knowing all the facts and being a slave to them. ;)

Eh cable provider gave it to me with internet service, I've been using Norton since high school though and no problems yet... side from that little quirk that honestly I should've figured out earlier but I would always try when I was already irritated with something else or busy moving so...

Go get some ESET, Kaspersky or F-Secure.
