So my old VS11449 monitor's LCD cracked finally after 5 years of having it. Got an email from customer support over at Viewsonic saying that I would have to pay 125 for repairs (not including any other additional charges), shipping bills both to and out of their repair HQ all the way in Cali. So I was pondering that would it be cheaper/easier to go to someone locally around in my area to get it repaired, or just get a new monitor with similar specs on it.

The only Viewsonic monitor I found that kept 1920x1200 resolution & has an HDMI input has been out of production since last year, so I only found a website that has 1 used and 1 refurbished monitor of that type.

So if anyone else cares to help me in this endeavor it would be appreciated. I would prefer a Viewsonic model because I honestly despise Dell, but if you find a model that is similar to a VS11449, feel free to link it.

Specs are here on page 16

Also to note, Size doesn't matter with the monitor so long as it's no smaller then a 24 inch, the resolution size of 1920x1200 would be nice to keep but if you find a monitor with a HDMI input but not the resolution, feel free to link it.

This was the monitor I was looking into http://www.viewsonic.com/products/va2626wm.htm

A (http://www.viewsonic.com/products/va2626wm.htm)s for price it doesn't matter too much but don't break the bank :)

Yeah, I think going with a new one is the easiest, and less annoying option. Personally I'm a big fan of Samsung displays. In fact, all my "home entertainment" stuff is Samsung. They just make good quality shit in my experience. Never had any problems. I found one with similar specs to yours (honestly I didn't check ALL the specs, just the ones I thought were important). It "only" does 1080p, but personally I prefer 16:9 displays anyway. The price is decent too. Anyway, take a look.

Monitor does look good, and cheap :P

No built in speakers but I can compensate for that. I only wish It had 1920x1200 'cause that's the size of all my wallpapers lol, and it's just a more fine-quality resolution.

But definitely considering it.

Whoops. Sorry about that. Didn't notice the built in speakers. I suppose that's a pretty big difference. And I guess personally I'm just a sucker for wider widescreen. I know a lot of people prefer 16:10, but I've just grown accustomed to 16:9. It just seems more "universal" to me. But it is 120 pixels less. :p

Yeah go for a new one.. :)

Basing your monitor choice on speakers and/or wallpaper sizes seems like a weird thing - but more power to ya. :p

Well bult in speakers would just be one more thing that I wouldn't have to buy for my xbox 360, considering all the other times i'm a headset guy. And what's wrong with going with resolution size? :P

Thinking this monitor
