I'm just here to forewarn anyone that might be getting themselves a new motherboard and/or CPU fan to NOT get this damned Rocketfish Universal CPU Cooler, I grabbed it at Bestbuy and it was the only fan of that kind they had available. Go home, me and a friend try to start putting together my new rig, couple hours after fooling around with this bloody fan. Completely incompatible with my motherboard, despite saying that it's compatible with AM3. We couldn't even get it to hold because the brackets would not align with the screw holes and I'm not going through the trouble trying to jury rig something that shouldn't take 2 hours to sort out how it's suppose to go on and realize that it even can't.

Product is here: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Rocketfish%26%23153%3B+-+Universal+CPU+Cooler/9462609.p?id=1218108988702&skuId=9462609&st=RF-UPCUWR CPU Cooler LGA 775/1156&cp=1&lp=1

Goddamn jipped by Bestbuy too considering that same fan is only $10 on Amazon.

:nadkick:

The Intel Stock Cooler is excellent value. AMD used to be decent, too.

I'm using a Xigmatek Durin http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233059

It's not the best but it works well enough. Going to have to get more heatpipes to keep my I7 from burning up in the summer though.

I want to get me a enclosed liquid cooler.

Have you experienced the high-picted whining noise many have reported?

Alex

No. But then again I need a new chassis as the roof fan is fucked up beyond belief.

Froberg

Why would that require a new chassis?

At any rate, I'm loving my Corsair 700D! :)

Using the preapplied thermal paste or applying something else?

Alex

Preapplied. Then again I think this program is fucked up as it says my GPU is 98 degrees C

It's pretty, but those grills are a bitch to clean.

All I need is a can of air and I'm done.

Decided to spend the money on a really good air cooler instead of an enclosed water unit. Water units are cool and all but they haven't been around very long, I read some stories on Newegg about pumps going out after a month and such. While I do really want one I cant take risks because one of my jobs requires the use of my computer. Can't afford downtime. :(

Just encase your entire rig in baby oil.

Baby oil? The ones I've read about primarily used white oil, or some-such. It has to be somewhat difficult to heat up, over time, as well.

Also; disk drives are not inside the oil, which kind-of makes a large-capacity system impractical.
